President Obama only has a few months left in office and it’s sure to be the little things he’ll miss. Like doing his best Biz Markie impression at a Vietnamese Town Hall in front of hundreds of people. During a Q&A session, the president took a question from Suboi, the woman who runs the game in Vietnam. Once she informed him of who she was and what she did, Obama asked her to spit a couple of bars for him while he beatboxed.
Granted, he didn’t do it the entire time as she rapped in Vietnamese, but at least give him an A for effort. After she finished, the two discussed gender stereotypes in music — specifically hip-hop — and how American and Vietnamese culture have a lot more in common than people think. Props to her for kicking a rhyme on the spot in front of one of the most well-known figures in the world, and without breaking a sweat. She even got the crowd involved. Once an MC, always an MC.
This town hall was a part of Obama’s trip through the country in an attempt to normalize relations, reassure them that American politics aren’t as crazy as they seem right now, and eat a $6 dinner with Anthony Bourdain.
